We’ve been asked to present a seminar at the Mumpreneur Conference in the Midlands on SEO, so shortly after setting this live I’ll be heading up to the Midlands complete with laptop and various handouts. Then on Sunday you’ll find me on the stage talking various business owners through how to get their website found!
I’ve given seminars at this event for the last 2 years, and am really honored to be invited back to talk again this year. A lot of the businesses we work with at Glassraven are family run businesses (whether you like the term mumpreneur or not – it certainly has helped raise the profile of the growing sector of parents running their businesses around a young family). Having started my business when our daughter was 2 and our son just 4 months I am well aware of the challenges that affect others in the same situation which has well equipped me to work around their needs and requirements, plus I often start work with them when they are just starting out and its fantastic to see the businesses grow and flourish over the years!
The topic this year was chosen by Mumpreneur UK members – in previous years I’ve spoken generally about how to create a successful website, and then a guide to using Google Analytics to help grow your business. There does seem to be a lot of confusion about what SEO involves, and a lot of people do seem to be misinformed or think that it is something very complicated.
So what is SEO?
Well as defined by Wikipedia:
Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is the process of improving the visibility of a website (or web page) in a search engines natural (organic – i.e. unpaid) search results.
A lot of SEO is actually common sense and the reality is that there is a LOT that a business can do to improve their websites ranking in the search results. If you are coming to the conference on Sunday I would love to see you and I hope you get a lot of useful information from my seminar. Please do come and say hi too! I’ll be there all day as a couple of our clients are nominated for awards!
If you are not attending but are thinking that you would love to know more about how to improve your websites SEO – stay tuned! I’ll be posting a lot of the information presented in my seminar here on the blog over the next few weeks for everyone to benefit from.
